Rangia is a city located in Assam. It is a municipal board in Kamrup district of Assam. Rangia is situated 52 km away from Guwahati.  It is the regional divisional headquarter of the Northeast Frontier Railway. Rangia rail junction is the nearest railway station for the neighbouring country of Bhutan.
 
The name Rangia is a combination of two Assamese words ran which means a fight and dia which means to give. Hence Rangia means to give a fight.

Rangia city is situated at 26.47 degrees north and 91.63 degrees east. The city is located at an elevation of 127 feet. The river Borolia flows through the city.

The weather of Rangia remains moderate throughout the year. Summer in the place is hot and humid. Monsoon is cold and remains foggy in the morning and at night. Monsoon in the area is accompanied by heavy rain and thunderstorm.
